LPC Counseling Jobs in Wasilla, Alaska

Mat-Su Mental Health is hiring Licensed Professional Counselors (LPC’s) for our outpatient private practice in Wasilla, Alaska. This is not community mental health or a high-volume agency model. These are private practice roles for clinicians who take their work seriously and want engaged clients and sustainable caseloads.

We built this practice around a simple principle: when clinicians are well supported, clients receive better care. That shows up in efficient systems, strong administrative support, a steady referral base, and scheduling flexibility that allows you to build a real career without sacrificing your life outside the office.

Below you’ll find position details, compensation structure, and how to connect if you’re interested.

Counseling Jobs in Wasilla

Our Wasilla office serves clients from across the Mat-Su Valley, including Wasilla, Palmer, and surrounding communities. Many of the individuals, couples, and families we work with are building long term lives here, which means outpatient care is steady, relational, and ongoing.

For clinicians exploring LPC jobs in Wasilla, that consistency allows for meaningful, depth oriented work. You are not limited to short term or crisis based care. You have the opportunity to build strong therapeutic relationships, support couples and families over time, and see the impact of your work across months and years.

Wasilla continues to grow, and so does the need for experienced marriage and family therapists. Practicing here means developing long term clinical relationships within a community where clients return, refer others, and value trusted local providers.

What work looks like here.

  • Your day is primarily clinical. You see clients, complete documentation, manage your schedule and make sure your space is dialed in.

  • Administrative staff handle billing, insurance, and new client onboarding.

  • You work alongside experienced counselors, therapists, social workers, and psychiatric providers who value clear communication and high clinical standards.

  • Consultation is accessible and collaboration is encouraged.

  • We use a modern, cloud-based EHR system that is HIPAA compliant, efficient and user friendly.

  • Documentation expectations are clear and sustainable. Most clinicians complete notes the same day, allowing them to leave work at work.

Thriving as professional counselor at MSMH.

We are not hiring for a specific personality or clinical style. We are hiring thoughtful, licensed clinicians who take their work seriously and value being part of a strong, professional team.

Clinicians who do well here are comfortable treating a range of concerns across age groups. They complete documentation responsibly and on time. They treat clients and colleagues with professionalism and respect. Within that structure, there is meaningful autonomy in how they practice.

We expect accountability, consistency, and a willingness to engage in feedback.

Pre-licensed clinicians are welcome. Those who hold a master’s degree and are working toward full licensure receive structured supervision and an environment that supports steady clinical growth.

We prioritize long-term fit over simply filling a position. Experience, references, and direct conversation during the interview process help determine whether this is the right next step for both sides.

Compensation, perks, and benefits.

The goal is simple. A role that pays you what you are worth, treats you like a professional, and gives you room to build sustainability.

Compensation.

Licensed professional counselors at Mat-Su Mental Health typically earn between $110,000 and $165,000 annually.

You are a W2 employee, not a 1099 contractor, which means stable predictable income without the headaches of managing your own books.

Pay reflects your licensure, clinical experience, and caseload. As your availability and caseload grow, your earning potential grows with it.

Other Perks.

Health care benefit to support your wellbeing outside the office.

Paid sick leave.

Malpractice coverage provided so you are protected without carrying that cost yourself.

CEU support, because strong clinicians keep growing and we want to make that easy.

Clinical supervision for pre-licensed clinicians working toward full licensure in Alaska.

Scheduling that is actually flexible.

You have real input into your session days, hours, and time off.

We ask for a minimum of 24 completed sessions per week.

Most clinicians work a three to four day clinical week and manage their own time off in coordination with client needs.

Moving to Alaska as a licensed professional counselor.

If you’re licensed in another state and in good standing, Alaska offers licensure by credentials, sometimes referred to as licensure by endorsement. The Alaska Board of Professional Counselors reviews your existing license, education, supervised experience, and exam history to determine whether they meet state requirements.

Alaska does not currently participate in an interstate compact, so licensure is completed directly through the state board rather than transferred automatically. For most experienced clinicians, this is a straightforward review process.

Pre-licensed clinicians may be able to transfer supervised hours completed in other states, depending on prior documentation and training history.

If you have questions about how your specific background might translate, we’re happy to talk through it.
