About Haiden Simmons, LPC
Haidyn Simmons, LPC, has been providing mental health services since 2022 and is passionate about supporting teenagers, young adults, and families as they navigate life's challenges. She enjoys working with clients experiencing anxiety, trauma, identity exploration, relationship concerns, and life transitions, and is committed to creating a therapeutic space where clients feel safe, supported, and empowered to grow.
Originally from Louisiana, Haidyn relocated to Alaska four years ago and quickly fell in love with both the state's breathtaking natural beauty and the sense of community she found here. Outside of the therapy room, Haidyn enjoys reading, spending time outdoors with her pets, practicing yoga, and sharing a good cup of coffee with friends.
Education and Training
Haidyn earned her Bachelor's Degree in Family and Child Studies from Louisiana Tech University before completing her Master's Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling in 2022. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the State of Alaska.
Haidyn's clinical training included hands on experience at Intuitive Solutions Counseling and Recovery, where she facilitated group therapy and provided individual counseling for clients navigating co occurring mental health and substance use concerns. She has also completed Level I training in Brainspotting and incorporates Brainspotting interventions when clinically appropriate and aligned with client goals.
Experience
Haidyn's clinical experience spans outpatient therapy, intensive outpatient programs, community mental health, and private practice settings. Throughout her career, she has worked with children, adolescents, adults, and families experiencing a wide range of emotional, behavioral, and relational concerns.
Prior to becoming a counselor, Haidyn worked in the nonprofit sector in Anchorage, providing support and resources to local individuals and families. These experiences deepened her passion for mental health and continue to inform her compassionate, community centered approach to care.
Over time, Haidyn has developed a particular passion for working with teenagers and young adults as they navigate identity development, anxiety, trauma, relationship challenges, and the unique transitions associated with adolescence and emerging adulthood. She also enjoys partnering with parents and caregivers to strengthen family relationships and support lasting change outside of therapy sessions.
Counseling Perspective
Haidyn believes that healing happens within the context of safe, authentic, and trusting relationships. She strives to create a therapeutic environment where clients feel genuinely seen, supported, and empowered to explore both their struggles and strengths.
Her approach is person centered, trauma-informed, and grounded in attachment theory. Haidyn recognizes that early relationships and life experiences often shape the ways we understand ourselves, connect with others, and move through the world. She works collaboratively with clients to better understand these patterns while building insight, resilience, and new ways of coping.
Haidyn draws from a variety of evidence based approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), mindfulness based interventions, psychoeducation, and Brainspotting. Therapy is tailored to each individual's unique needs, with the understanding that meaningful growth looks different for everyone.
Whether clients are seeking practical tools, deeper self understanding, or both, Haidyn's goal is to help them develop greater confidence, healthier relationships, and a stronger sense of self as they move toward meaningful and lasting change.
