ADHD Medication Management in the Palmer - Wasilla Area
At Mat-Su Mental Health, we provide ADHD medication management in Wasilla, Alaska, for children, teens, and adults. Our approach is collaborative and individualized, with medication considered as one part of a comprehensive treatment plan that may also include therapy, school or workplace accommodations, coaching, and practical strategies for managing ADHD.
Living with ADHD is about much more than having trouble paying attention. It can affect organization, time management, emotional regulation, motivation, follow-through, and the ability to keep up with everyday responsibilities. Many people have spent years working harder than others realize while feeling overwhelmed, discouraged, or wondering why things that seem easy for everyone else feel so difficult.
Medication isn't the right choice for everyone, but for many people it can reduce some of the barriers created by ADHD. When symptoms become more manageable, it can be easier to use the strategies you're learning, build consistent routines, and spend more energy on the parts of life that matter most. Our goal isn't to change your personality or the strengths that often come with ADHD, it's to help you access those strengths more consistently by reducing the symptoms that get in the way.

Medication Support for Adults
Many adults live with ADHD for years before realizing there may be another layer of support available. You might be juggling work, family, and responsibilities while feeling chronically overwhelmed, scattered, or exhausted by how much effort it takes just to stay on track.
This service may be a good fit for adults who:
Suspect ADHD or received a diagnosis earlier in life
Are already in therapy and want additional support applying what they are learning
Feel stuck despite using coping strategies and tools
Are finding that their current ADHD medication no longer feels effective
Want thoughtful medication support as part of a broader treatment plan
ADHD does not disappear with age. You deserve care that recognizes how ADHD shows up in adult life and supports you in a way that feels respectful, collaborative, and realistic.
Medication Support for Children and Teens
For parents of ADHD kids, it can be hard to know how best to support a child or teen who is struggling with focus, behavior, or emotional regulation. Many families arrive at this point after trying therapy, school supports, and structure at home, yet still feeling like something is missing.
Medication support may be helpful for children and teens who:
• Struggle with focus, organization, or follow through at school
• Experience big emotional reactions or impulsivity that lead to frequent meltdowns, conflict, or shutdowns
• Feel overwhelmed by academic or social demands despite trying their best
• Are already engaged in counseling and need additional support to make progress
• Are taking medication that may need adjustment as they grow and develop
We work collaboratively with parents and therapists to support children and teens in developmentally appropriate ways. Our goal is not to change who your child is, but to reduce barriers so they can better access their strengths and the skills they are already building in therapy.
What to Expect From Medication Appointments
Your first appointment focuses on understanding your symptoms, history, previous treatments, and current challenges. If medication is appropriate, your provider will discuss options, benefits, potential side effects, and answer your questions.
Follow up appointments allow time to assess how medication is working and make thoughtful adjustments as needed. We prioritize clear communication, shared decision making, and ongoing monitoring to ensure safety and effectiveness.
